Bohemian Beauty - Burberry Prorsum AW14 #LFW

With Christopher Bailey now Chief Executive of the brand, Burberry Prorsum presented a very different collection to past seasons for AW14 - the mood was softer, with a more fluid, languid feel. Bohemian beauties drifted down the the runway layered with hand painted Silks and Sheepskins; Shearlings bonded with the lightest Suede, and luxe velvety Deerskin - complete with majestic tapestry bags. Flashes of rich reds against ochre mustard, forest greens and sapphire blue, with what seemed like the most opulent Mink fur Overcoats... yet there was no fur whatsoever used this season. In fact it was all Shearling, with tapestry work to give the clever visual effect of a plush Mink Coat. Inspiration was taken from the Bloomsbury Group - a group of artists through the twenties and thirties - and this was clearly referenced throughout the very English, bohemian collection with huge hand-painted floral motifs.
As always, the Burberry Check made it's appearance - the final walk saw who else but Cara, wrapped in a personalised blanket cape with initials 'CJD' - her departure backstage wearing this very cape was huge for Burberry who are offering Runway Made to Order (no doubt this piece will sell out).
With Anna Wintour wearing a piece from the AW14 Collection, and Bradley Cooper looking on, Burberry's hot property (Cara, Jourdan and Edie, along with fresh faces - Matilda, Neelam and Malaika) walked as Paloma Faith finished with a live performance wearing a Pre-fall AW14 Lace Gown.
I must say, the atmosphere was electric at the live screening and we literally all swooned when Bradley Cooper took his seat!! The only slight glitch was Suki Waterhouse taking to the runway. I've shared some pics below...

I don't pop molly, I rock Tom Ford #LFW

Far from previous seasons of extravagance and sparkle, this season Tom Ford played it down with a chic palette of Black White and Red in the simplest of cuts. There were far less Sequins, embellishment, and sparkle - but that didn't mean the luxe factor had completely vanished... No No, this is Tom Ford after all...
There were Mink pullovers, Velvet midi skirts, and the softest supple Red Crocodile in a skirt set paired with heeled Cowgirl boots for a Western feel. It seemed a perfect wardrobe for a well travelled woman with a discerning taste for furs and exotic skins. The stand-out piece was the celebratory football mini dress with the designer's name and year of birth displayed amongst a smattering of fiery Copper Sequins. Tom Ford's humour was also apparent in the sporty kick he brought to the collection, with MOLLY displayed below (for anyone that hasn't heard Jay-Z's 'Tom Ford' record, now is the time!) - a definite favourite of the Press and buyers.
For me. it was this look, along side the Pink Fur that Karen Elson had draped over her shoulders that caught my attention...

Spring 2014 Couture - Elie Saab

For the Spring 2014 Couture shows, Elie Saab presented a selection of Gowns inspired by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, the 19th Century Dutch Painter. Layers of tulle and organza were embellished with smatterings of appliqu├ęd crystals and delicate petals - something we've seen many a time from Saab, but with a lifted palette of powdery hues taken from an Alma-Tadema canvas. Flowing gowns in light Lavender, soft Blues and blush Pinks swept across the floor with flower prints - some strapless, others one-shouldered. This certainly wasn't my favourite of the Couture shows, with only very few gowns catching my interest; but there are some obvious choices that I'm sure we will see very soon on the Red Carpet.

2014: New Year, New Resolutions (really!) New Layout...

Can you believe it has been 2 years since I last posted already?! I have to admit, when my Grandmother passed away almost two and a half years ago, it hit me pretty hard and I have missed her every day since. I stopped blogging and even doing the things I love, like painting, art, and all that jazz; and threw myself into work. That's all it's been since... work, work, work!!

So when 2014 came around, I was determined to start new... I'm not talking the usual New Year's resolutions by the way. It's a little odd but my resolution was to go back to how I used to be. Live a little more for me - I know it sounds selfish but hey, when all you do is work you're soon hit with a realisation that you've lost a little of yourself bit by bit in the daily grind.

With that in mind, I've started with changing the look of the blog. It's by no means finished, but it's almost done! There is no longer a page just for 'Today I'm Wearing' as that has been replaced with OOTD ME... a page full of outfits posts and my Instagram pics, with a few niggles to fix yet; and all Press and Media has been merged with my older Styling work. Do let me know what you think of the new layout and design (I always appreciate any comments & feedback). I'll also soon be adding a page for my illustration work and will be back to posting this week!! Excited!

#manicurethursday 24 carat Gold #christmas countdown #22

On my countdown to Christmas I'm getting festive and sparkly with my nail colours... today I've opted for OPI Fiji Weejee Fawn as a neutral pearlised base, and then added sparkle in the form of Deborah Lippmann's Boom Boom Pow... I LOVE this Gold Sparkle nail colour! It includes different sizes of Gold shimmer and glitter but it's far from tacky... Instead, it gives a luxe extravagant lacquered glaze and it houses actual 24 carat Gold!!! Yes, it really is that luxe... I've finished with my Seche Clear Crystal Top Coat for intense shine.

Decleor's Christmas Pomander!!!

Eleven Paris Celebrate Joy Division with all proceeds going to MDF...

A little while back I was invited to join Eleven Paris at Notting Hill boutique Village Bicycle to celebrate their T-shirt designed especially to pay tribute to Joy Division and their contribution to the music industry over the years... It was a great night and I thank Eleven Paris for inviting us down - guests included Cara Delevingne (Burberry girl otm!), Jade Jagger, Zara Martin, The Felder sisters and Tyrone Wood! Here's a taster of the T-shirt and goodies we all recieved...
The T-shirt is currently on sale at the Village Bicycle Boutique in Notting Hill, with all proceeds going to MDF, The Bipolar Organisation... so a great reason to buy darlings!
