Hey darl,
ReplyDeleteQuick style question..
What do you think of the fire brick/ coral colours that are in right now?
xx
Sure glad I can help...
ReplyDeleteWell the brick red/terracota shades are extremely on trend right now - esp with the seventies and preppy college girl trends that are running strong.
I'd recommend wearing this shade but play with textures, and break the colour up as depending on what and how much of it you wear, it can be slightly ageing!
A fire brick silk/chiffon blouse looks fab with indigo/stonewash drainpipes or flares. Alternatively work the colour in on nails - even a fire brick bronzer can give a fab holiday glow with a sophisticated finish. Just apply it lightly!
The easiest way to work the colour in is with a pair of wedges or platform summer shoes - for work, Topshop do a great pair of court shoes in the colour.
On the other hand, coral is a summer classic and works really well with summer brights. Pair it with stone/nude peg legs or opt for a coral maxi with burnished gold accessories and have fun with it!
Personally I like to mix it up with shades of orange or sky blue, makes it more interesting...but I make sure I play down my accessories when doing so.
One of my fave summer eyeshadows (esp for hot summer nights out) is MAC Paradisco, its a pretty Coral with a Peachy Gold sheen to it.
Have fun with it Darl!

Heya:)
ReplyDeleteOk so your blog is soo much fun too read!! Love all the insight you give into the fashion world!
I was thinking of buying some brogue shoes?
What do you think?
xx
Ola!
ReplyDeleteAhh that's great to hear - I'm glad you enjoy it!
Brogues are fab, alot of people think that they are actually a difficult style to wear but they really aren't at all!
As we are approaching summer months, I'd opt for a pair in a Periwinkle Grey, Lilac or Petrol Blue... basically anything but black! Also, it's an idea to venture out to different fabrics - suede is a much softer version which works for this season and generally softens the outfit a little. I think Black leather can look rather harsh in summer even when dressed down.
Brogues look fab and really stylish when worn with a pretty summer tea-dress and trilby, and equally as cool when worn model-style... a loose fitting tee, drainpipes/cropped trousers and a casual blazer/crop leather jacket (although you prob don't want to opt for a leather jacket in summer).
If you want to work the androgynous look then a pair of peg leg trousers and a smart blouse finished with a women's briefcase style satchel (you'll find this everywhere atm!) and you'll look super cool! For serious style finish this with a pair of round sun glasses in the style of the Olsen sisters.
Just have fun with it, pretty ankle socks with brogues give them a preppy cut twist and a soft wave/beachy hair tends to look cool with brogues too.
I hope this all helps! :) x
